Solo Tourism Event

To preserve, protect and introduce Javanese culture , as well as retain its position as Kota Budaya (city of cultural greatness), a lot of events and traditional ceremonies, mostly related to Islam, held at Solo. Most of the ceremonies are centralized at Kraton Surakarta Hadiningrat and Pura Mangkunegaran.

At those festive, ten of thousand people from Solo and its surrounding area come to Solo as the king city to celebrate, have fun, fulfill the curiosity or simply feel the old time nostalgic moment.

Here, some routine events held at Solo.

1. sekaten - Garebeg Mulud

Sekaten is the name given to a local gathering to commemorate Maulud Nabi Muhammad SAW, which is held for a whole month every year in the north square, great mosque trough to the inner side of Keraton Surakarta Hadiningrat.

2. 1 st suro heirloom procession

Kirab Pusoko 1 Suro is a kind of procession where some royal sacral heirlooms belongs to the Keraton and Puro Mangkunegaran is taken out from the keraton for a walk. The Kirab is held on the night of Suro 1st (Javanese calendar) or the Moslem New Year, Muraham 1st.
